I am falling in love again. No, not with a new woman (my wife is perfect and I could never ask for better). I’m falling in love with the intimate, small wedding. I felt that Krista and RJ were already good friends, but it was magical to spend time with the the friends and family who have helped shape who they are. As a photographer, I am often able to disappear at a wedding, to become the fly on the wall that nobody notices. Not so at a small intimate wedding. At this type of wedding I do more than just observe…I become a part of the experience. These two two gracious families opened their arms and enveloped me with all the love and kindness they had to offer…it is no wonder that Krista and RJ turned out to be such amazing people, they were a product of their environments. Needless to say, this was a very special wedding and time for me in a spectacular place in the world and I came away from this wedding feeling grateful and loved.

RJ Kern (the humble and kind groom in the photos above) is a talented wedding photographer and splits his time between Colorado and Minnesota and the rest of the world. There is something so incredible about a road trip. The ones where you get in the car with a destination in mind, but no real plans except exploration and adventure. It is times like those that your soul feels free to just be who you were created to be. This might give you a little insight into this shoot, but also some insight into Ashley and Nolan’s relationship. Let me say that again…free to just be who you were created to be.

Our little road trip took us from Laguna Beach to San Clement to San Onofre…traveling in a retrosexy 1976 Porsche 911s the session couldn’t be anything but fun, freeing and adventurous. Check it out.
